“who am i becoming?” – Poem by Nataline Ziola

'I would never' I say as another lie slices my lips

I smile my sad smile
Yet I’m happier than I’ve ever been before.

I love a boy
but not enough to think of him
as I’m kissing someone else.

“I would never”
I say as another lie slices my lips
And cuts my tongue in two.

Everything I want to say
Feels like a shotgun in my mouth
And everything that you say to me
Is what pulls the trigger.

But now I’ve learned how to swallow a smoking bullet.
It’s easy –

                  Just don’t think.
