“Above It All” by Vel the Wonder

This song is a great representation of what it feels like to be a survivor of abuse and trauma. As a survivor of sexual abuse myself, I can relate to a lot of the lyrics and when I’m feeling low it’s a good reminder that I am resilient and can live my life ‘above it all’.

“A&E” by Goldfrapp

I love songs that juxtapose two different moods. In this song, the beat communicates lightness while the lyrics present sadness. This song reminds me of the deep urge we all have to be cared for by the ones we love and the disappointment that can come with that.
