The Strange is Beautiful at L.A. Zine Fest 2016
I had an AMAZING time offering The Strange is Beautiful Alternative Self-Help Guide at L.A. Zine Fest 2016! Besides offering the guide, I was honored to interview three exhibitors of diverse backgrounds, a UCLA zine librarian, a Skylight Books zine lover employee and last year I had the opportunity to interview Daisy Noemi, one of the organizers of L.A. Zine Fest, for a zine community piece <333 I love the zine community, and I hope you fall in love with them too!
We gave $3,000 in donations to LGBT Homeless Youth!
The Strange is Beautiful gave $3,000 in donations to the Los Angeles LGBT Youth Center from our Trade and Donate event. People brought bags of clothes, zines, artwork and cassettes to Pershing Square on Saturday, April 18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Below are a few photos we took of friends in our spaceship! We will be at Take Back the Night!
The Strange is Beautiful will be tabling zines at CSUN’s Take Back the Night on Thursday, March 19 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Plaza Del Sol. Come hang out with us!
The event offers a resource fair on how to protect your body and to help rape and abuse survivors, a chance to share your story, a show by Tulips, and an opportunity to show your support by lighting candles and marching for Violence Against Women Awareness Month.
