Short Bio

Shannen Roberts (she/her) is a queer, Peruvian-American journalist, musician called Cusi Coyllur, and trauma-informed yoga instructor in Los Angeles.

Formal training includes her bachelor’s degree in journalism from California State University, Northridge and multiple internships.

Since 2014, she’s written hundreds of articles on mental health and music on her blog The Strange is BeautifulIn September, she exhibited photo interviews called “You Can Be Broke and Self-Care” at Nous Tous Community Gallery.

Additionally, she’s published in L.A. Taco, Ms. Magazine and Music Connection and sold her own zines at LA, San Francisco, and San Fernando Valley zine festivals.

Besides writing, she’s organized music shows and festivals, taught yoga at eating disorder clinics, and completed successful publicity campaigns for artivists under the name Raw Honey PR.
