I created the graphics in Adobe Photoshop and crafted the captions. For Ayline Artin’s post, I booked the events listed in her caption. “You Can Be Broke and Self-Care” is an exhibit I created and promoted using social media and public relations tactics. Hundreds visited including a field trip from Roosevelt High School.

Insta Success

This was my first big event I created as The Strange is Beautiful. At the time, I had 300 followers and yet thanks to influencers reposting my event, I gained 158 participants across the U.S. and in Canada and grew to 1k followers in one week.

Goal:

Host a conversation between therapists and healers on changes we can make to support POC struggling with suicidal thoughts.

Steps I Took:

1. Reached out to therapists and healers via socials.

2. Created graphic flyers of each prompt in Adobe Photoshop.

3. Wrote and sent out a press release to media contacts.

Outcomes:

– Event spotlight by Latinx millennial outlet Remezcla (millions of readers).

– In-depth conversations between healers and therapists on The Strange is Beautiful’s Instagram.
